An ambigram is a word, name or phrase that retains meaning when viewed from another perspective—flipped, rotated, or mirrored. These clever typographic designs are part art, part optical illusion, and they’ve fascinated artists, designers, and curious minds for decades.

What Does “Ambigram” Mean?

The word ambigram comes from the Latin roots ambi- (meaning “both”) and -gram (meaning “written”). In other words, it’s a word design that was written so that it can be read in two ways.
